The Great Thomas Aveling Bake Off

The Great British Bake-off came to Thomas Aveling recently.
Organised by Miss Mawn, one member of staff from each house, along with one student from their house were tasked with completing a ‘Technical Challenge’ and a ‘Show Stopper’ over two consecutive weeks.
The first week saw competitors take on the ‘Technical Challenge’; this was to make Profiteroles. In this first round, Achilles house represented by Ms Mcdowall and Nerys from year 10 won with their Kiwi and salted caramel Profiteroles. It was a close contest with only one point between Achilles and Resolute who came second.
The second and final challenge, the ‘Show Stopper’ was also a closely contested event. The brief was to create a ‘Summer Celebration’ and Cavalier competitors Mrs Williams and Siana from year 10 won with their eye catching levitation cake.
Combining the scores, the final results were as follows;
1st Place – Achilles -represented by Ms Mcdowall and Nerys
2nd Place – Resolute- represented by Miss Butler and Millie
3rd Place – Cavalier -represented by Mrs Williams and Siana
4th Place – Victory - represented by Mrs Walsh-McEwan and Sadie
Well done Miss Mawn for organising our Bake Off and to all the competitors and a special thank you to Mr Jackson for being the Thomas Aveling Bake Off Judge
