Year 7 Table Tennis

The Year 7 Table Tennis Team entered the U13 Kent Schools Tournament in November at Medway Park.

The team played fantastically in a close final against Dane Court Grammar School and came away with four  silver medals after losing the match 5-3.

Dane Court Grammar School as winners should have gone through to the South East Zonal finals on the 13th January but were unable to attend so The Thomas Aveling School team had the honour of representing Kent.

The U13 Girls team travelled to Bexhill-on-Sea on Saturday 13th January where they played against schools from the counties of East Sussex, West Sussex, Essex and Hertfordshire.

The girls played some tense and closely fought matches but held their nerve to pull out some outstanding performances. They won three matches and drew one.

As the Thomas Aveling School won the same amount of matches as Ashlyn’s School, Hertfordshire they had to count the amount of games each team had won during the tournament. The girls sadly lost first place by one game!  However, as runners up, the U13’s qualify for the Southern Regional Finals of the English Schools’ in Bristol on the 4th February.

Congratulations to Katie O’Dwyer, Scarlett Lennon, Millie Taylor and Stephanie Fausse for their great performances throughout the day.  We wish them all the best in the Southern Regional Finals.
