Welcome to Year 8
As year 8 students you are now established members of the school and as such we expect great things from you. This year is vital to your preparation for your SATs exams which will take place in year 8 for some of you and year 9 for others. You will also be choosing your options in term 5. It is important to embed really good practice in all you do, recording homeworks in your planner and allowing time to complete each piece of work set to the best of your ability.
Important dates in the life of a year 8 are 14th January with an academic tutoring day where you and your parents will discuss your progress as well as academic success, with your form tutor and 27th March for the Parents Evening & Options Fayre that all Year 8 teachers will attend.
It is hoped that as settled members of the school's community, you will benefit from taking part in as many school-based activities as possible. This may be as a school council representative, a peer mediator, a member of a school team or any other of the many after school-clubs. Each and every one of you have a very important part to play in the success of this school and in Year 8 you have the opportunity to really make an impact.
