Students (written by Head Girl)

The Thomas Aveling School is based in Rochester, Kent, and accommodates approximately 1,200 students. A vast majority of our intake comes from local schools.

"When I first came to Thomas Aveling in year 7, my first impression was that it was a big school compared to my primary school Delce Juniors, I was very nervous about making new friends and seeing older pupils. However I settled in quickly and was able to make plenty of new friends that felt exactly the same as me.

Through the years I have taken part in various activities within the school, where I have gone on trips to France and Italy which the school has organised and learnt about the different cultures.

There are many opportunities in Thomas Aveling that give you the chance to take part in representing the school. In year 10 I was elected to be a prefect where I worked closely with members of staff for different events going on in the school.

In yr 11 it was a crucial time where I had to focus on my GSCE examinations, the teachers were very supportive and offered me extra help after school if I had any problems, I achieved 1A, 8Bs and 3Cs.

In yr 13 I am studying Media Studies, English Literature and Psychology, I feel that Thomas Aveling has helped me become more confident and always encourages me to aim for success. This has prepared me to go on to university where I wish to study psychology and pursue a career in this area."
