The Thomas Aveling School is a fantastic place to get a brilliant education, I am the current Head Boy here at Thomas Aveling and I can say that the past 7 years of my life have been lived to the full and that I am proud to say that I go to Thomas Aveling.
When I started in year 7 I was really nervous, scared and the school seemed really big.
The staff however, were and are great for support. On open days in the summer we got the opportunity to meet our other peers and started making friends. After the first few weeks I knew my way around and felt a part of the school community straight away. Since we introduced vertical tutoring last year, younger students have found the transition from primary school even easier, with younger years taken under the wing of the older students. We all feel very protective of the younger students in our forms.
As a year 7 I lacked confidence and worried that I was would achieve average grades.
The school has helped me grow over the years, develop and have helped me build myself a good strong future. I achieved fantastic GCSEs and I am excepting to achieve just as well in my A-Levels, the school has helped me prepare for and apply to university.
Thomas Aveling has given me many opportunities through the fantastic after school clubs and roles of responsibilities such as prefect, peer mediator, librarian and many more. School trips, including the first fantastic trip to Kenya for a month that the school ran as well as the different exotic trips that many different departments run are great to gain an appreciation of the world around us. In year 10 I also got the opportunity to take part in a business enterprise,
the opportunities that the school offer are always growing and improving preparing all students for the future ahead of them.
The thing I have truly loved about the school is how friendly and caring the staff are, they are always there when you need them giving you their full attention making sure you achieve the grades you need. The school has made me from a boy into a young man and has helped me become the person I am and who I am going to be, I will be for ever grateful.
