Sixth Form Dress Code

Sixth Form students form part of the adult community at The Thomas Aveling School and as such are expected to dress in a professional manner that will provide a suitable role model for younger students. This means that clothes suitable for an office environment are the benchmark for all Sixth Formers, regardless of the particular course they are following:

  • For boys this will mean, as a minimum standard, a shirt with a collar and smart tailored trousers.
  • For girls, a smart top and tailored trousers or skirt.
  • All students should wear shoes and may wear jumper or jacket.
  • Jeans, trainers, T-shirts, sweatshirts and hooded tops are not acceptable dress in offices, nor are they in our Sixth Form.

Conforming to this code will ensure that students command the respect of other students and staff and will also contribute to self esteem, as well as encouraging a professional attitude to studies.
