Physical Education is becoming ever more important as the Government is increasingly raising awareness of the importance of exercise during childhood. P.E at Thomas Aveling encourages this by providing a number of different ways to maintain that "healthy heart". Furthermore, competition and teamwork are provided through a number of different sports such as football, netball, hockey, basketball, rugby, softball and cricket. Individual sports are encouraged through gymnastics, athletics, badminton and tennis. Students in years 10 and 11 also get the opportunity to ski on a dry slope, tramp lining, and ice skating, as well as use the school gym which contains a number of different cardiovascular exercise machines.
Should your son/daughter be selected to play for a school team they will be expected, on occasions, to travel to an away fixture.
Your child will be advised when and where the fixture will take place and the time at which they are expected to return to school. Travel to and from the fixture will be via the school minibus and all drivers have the recognised minibus driver’s licence.
The fixture will be posted on the school website, but please be aware that due to unforeseen circumstances, this can sometimes be changed at late notice.
Please download our consent form indicating your consent for your child to participate, if selected.
