Teacher Training

At Thomas Aveling we are dedicated to providing a teacher training experience that equips trainees with the skills necessary to meet the challenges for a successful career in the teaching profession, whether you intend to teach within the selective education system or the non-selective sector. We are extremely proud of both the standard of our ITT programme and of the array of opportunities afforded to our students.

We are a Lead School for the Medway Valley Training Partnership (MVTP) for Schools Direct and a Hub Training Centre for our Initial Teaching Education (ITE) partner Kent and Medway Training (KMT). Alongside Kent and Medway Training, we strive to ensure that trainees have the relevant, quality exposure to both the practical and theoretical elements of the course, and have the opportunity to regularly network-meet others embarking on the same subject studies at other training institutions.
Medway Valley Training Partnership encorporate a ever increasing range of local secondary and primary schools throughout Medway and beyond.  We are also directly linked to local schools in both the Medway Teaching and Schools Alliance (MTSA) and the New Horizons Consortium.

In addition to our work with KMT we also welcome trainees from both Canterbury Christchurch and Greenwich Universities. Last year 26 trainees passed through Thomas Aveling alone. All of them successfully completed the course and all are employed in their first teaching post.
