Thomas Aveling takes part in STEM Day
On the 7th of February, Thomas Aveling pupils took part in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) day.
The day was dedicated to inform pupils on what a STEM based career has to offer and recognise the STEM activities that are out of the usual classroom environment. The workshops incorporated STEM skills, designed by the MEBP (Medway Enterprise Business Partnership), into activities such as construction of Lego houses with a clear budget and design and building geodesic domes. BAE systems, Hitachi Rail and a number of other companies came in to help support the pupils with the activities.
Miss Chew, Assistant head teacher at Thomas Aveling, said “it was a fantastic day which allowed students to gain invaluable experience. We are very grateful to everyone involved and hope it inspires our students to consider STEM careers in the future.”
