Trip to ExCel London

Year 12 Business Studies students had a great opportunity to go up to ExCel London in the Docklands to find more about international scale event management. This is co-insides with their current unit which is about managing an event themselves. The scale of the ExCel is huge and we were met by a team of 4 who have different roles within events management. The purpose of the trip was to speak to those who within the industry about the most important factors that need to considered when planning events.

ExCel is London’s only International Conference Centre and students asked some excellent questions about legislation, health and safety, management of staff, contingency plans, insurance requirements, methods of communication and how they measure success of events. The 4 members of staff at ExCel were very open and willing to discuss their roles and answer the questions to give students lots of detail to think about. There was also time to go on the Emirates Air Line across the River Thames before heading back to Rochester.
