National Table Tennis Finals - 2nd best team in England !!

Congratulations to Katie, Scarlett, Lily and Stephanie!

The U13 Girls Table Tennis team travelled to Leicester on Saturday 23rd March for the National Finals of English Schools Table Tennis Championships.  There was a tremendous atmosphere with a number of spectators watching which added to the pressure and excitement as the girls fought hard for every point. There was an exceptional display of sportsmanship from all members of the team throughout the day. The standard of play was extremely high and the team were victorious over teams from Leicestershire (6 -2) and Hertfordshire (5 – 3). There was a great sense of achievement and satisfaction as the girls beat Hertfordshire, a team they had narrowly lost to in the Zonal Finals in London.  Both Thomas Aveling and the Ripley St. Thomas School from Lancashire won their first two matches which meant that our final match was going to be the deciding factor of the tournament. The girls gave a great effort but unfortunately lost this final match. However, they should be immensely proud of themselves on becoming the second best team in England in their age group. What a phenomenal achievement.

The girls could not have achieved all of this without the help of their table tennis coaches Roger and Trevor, and the excellent support from all of their parents.
