Tunnock's Teacake Challenge

Year 9 GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition students took part in the Tunnock’s Teacake Challenge on Wednesday 13th February 2019. The food styling challenge was to produce a plate with a focus on the presentation of a Tunnock’s Teacake, which is a National competition being run through the Food Teacher’s Centre.

 

Students were asked to produce a plate with a focus on the presentation of a Tunnock’s Teacake, this was linked also to future careers as a Food Stylist. Mr. Jackson judged the plates and was looking for the most stunning plate created. Marks were given for creativity; presentation; skills and adding balance to the plate. By plate, it mean’s any receptacle, so it could be china; slate, wooden etc. The overall winner was Cole, 2nd Amelia and 3rd Maisie.
