The Thomas Aveling Drawing Prize
At the end of last term Mr Mortimore launched a drawing prize within the school where the winner would spend the day in the etching studios of a leading art school,, City and Guilds of London Art School. Sanskriti, Year 11 won the prize and travelled to London on Friday 11th January.
Sanskriti said - "These etchings were made as part of my GCSE Graphics coursework under the theme of Save it or Ban it. I chose to theme my project on Saving Red Pandas which are currently experiencing drastic losses in their numbers due to human action. I discovered the process of etching early on in my project and worked consistently to develop my skill. I was drawn to the methodical process of slowly and carefully scratching an image into being. I was delighted to have won the drawing prize, even being shortlisted was an amazing feeling which really validated what I was doing. My experience at City and Guilds of London Art School was amazing and I really enjoyed the experience. Being able to work so closely with a Leading Practitioner has developed my understanding of etching more than I could have imagined."
Well done Sanskriti!!
