A-Level Results Day at Thomas Aveling
Students at Thomas Aveling School, Rochester, were celebrating fantastic results again this year. The average grade for academic courses has risen again and this coupled with very strong vocational results means that all students who want to go to university are able to do so. It is not all about university though for these students as many plan on taking up degree level apprenticeships as well.
Wiktoria Wolff, who has met the offer from Liverpool university, a Russell Group University, has instead opted to take up a higher level apprenticeship at One Savings Bank based in Chatham in their Treasury department, the only apprenticeship they were offering. Wiktoria has done exceptionally well given that she only came into the country 4.5 years ago with very little English, she gained an A in Maths, Distinction star in Business and a C in Law.
Other high achievers included Jeevan Chauhan who gained an A in Maths, a Distinction star in ICT and a B in Media Studies, Eleanor Wollwebber who gained an A* in Photography, an A in Media Studies and a C in English Literature and Jasvinder Singh who gained an A in Government & Politics, a Distinction star in Business Studies and a B in Law.
Paul Jackson, Head Teacher said “I am absolutely delighted for the students who worked so hard for these much tougher qualifications. I am delighted that everyone has achieved what they needed for their next step in life – this is what we are all about as a school. I’d also like to thank the hard working staff who gave up holidays and weekends to support the students achieve their dreams.”
