Thomas Aveling’s Cooking for Uni Club
The Thomas Aveling’s Cooking for Uni Club runs for 6 weeks in the Autumn term and is designed to help Year 13 students prepare for University, College or living independently. The club has been a great success over the last five years and this year looks set to be the best year yet!
Students are taught to cook nutritious food which is fun and easy to make, tastes great, fits a tiny budget and generally can be completed in about 30 minutes. The recipes chosen can be adjusted in many ways to create new dishes for a varied diet. So far the group have made Carrot and Coriander Soup, Apple Crumble and Chicken Rogan Josh with Rice.
Over the next few weeks the budding chefs will be creating a variety of Muffins, a Cheesy Veggie Crumble, Mini Flat Bread Pizza and Christmas Cookies. The average cost per portion across the range is about £1, making it an invaluable experience for those about to embark on University, College or Apprenticeship life!
