Wear It Grey @ TA!

The Thomas Aveling School took part in a ‘Wear It Grey’ day on Friday 29th September in memory of Jake Elphick- Cox a past student, who sadly passed away in 2016, due to a brain tumour.

All proceeds from the charity day will go to the BrainsTrust, who support families of and patients with brain tumours.

Thomas Aveling are delighted to announce we managed to beat last year’s fundraising total of £1000 with this year’s total being £1289.66!

In exchange for £1 students and staff were allowed to wear their own clothes with the exception that they must wear at least one item of grey clothing. The tutor group who raised the most amount of money in of the school’s four houses also won a prize.

There was also a Staff vs 6th Formers charity football match after school which asked spectators to donate a £1 for the privilege of watching one of the greatest games of all time!  The victorious team was the 6th formers.  This alone raised £53.

Mrs Williams, Head of Jake’s House, Cavalier, said “This is always a very emotional day, and it was overwhelming to see so many staff and students wearing grey to support this cause. It always brings the school community together an what better way than to celebrate the life of an amazing student.”
