Another day, another BBC visit to Thomas Aveling!
We have had a busy week here with our Students, staff and parents much in demand to be interviewed by BBC journalists about their views on Education in the lead up to the General Election on June 8th.
On Tuesday we were delighted to welcome BBC News Education correspondent Gillian Hargreaves to Thomas Aveling School. Gillian spent time with 6th formers discussing issues that concern them, and in particular university fees and manifesto pledges by the main political parties relating to tuition fees and maintenance loans. Gillian also interviewed our Head teacher, Mr Jackson, and Assistant Head teacher Mrs Nyangon. These interviews will form part of a BBC Radio 4 focus on Education during the PM programme hosted by Eddie Mairs which airs at 5pm weekdays on Radio 4. When we have a link available we will post it on our Facebook page.
Yesterday, we welcomed reporter Joe from BBC Radio Kent. Joe was here to facilitate live interviews by Breakfast show hosts Maggie and Steve and parents, students and staff. The show is available on IPlayer for the next 30 days http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p052hg19#play
We are very proud of the way our 6th formers have conducted themselves during all these interviews and we received very positive feedback from the BBC journalists who commented on how informed and articulate our students are.
