The Jake Elphick-Cox Football Tournament 2017
We would like to say well done to Head Girl Amy for organising this year’s tournament, in honour of former student Jake Elphick-Cox, so brilliantly!
With the five a side teams playing 14 minute matches after school last Friday, and with great team spirit all round, it was the turn of the staff team this year to claim The Jake Elphick-Cox Cup.
Thanks to the generosity of 6th formers and staff approximately £160 was raised on the day for The Royal Marsden Hospital in Jake’s memory.
" It was heart-warming to see both staff and sixth form participating together in honour of Jake and what better way to do so than to play his favourite sport- football! We wanted to raise both awareness and money for The Royal Marsden Hospital which treated Jake and were immensely supportive to his family. The Jake Elphick-Cox cup has been running for two years now and we hope to see it continue to bring our school together and raise even more money for an organisation that do so much for individuals like Jake and their family. Unfortunately, staff won the cup this year -which I'm sure all us sixth formers will continue to hear about until the next tournament- but not to worry it will be back in our possession sooner or later!!" Amy, Head Girl.
