Young Carer’s Chocolate Tombola Fundraising Success

The Young Carers group, supported by Mrs Stratford and Mrs Holdsworth, held a chocolate tombola at break on the last day of term with a fantastic amount of chocolate donations received with thanks from staff and students.

The stall created quite a frenzy with its huge selection of Easter eggs on offer and raised over  £88  with these proceeds going towards helping support the students attend a Young Carers festival in the summer.

Thomas Aveling’s young carers look after someone in their family who has a long term illness or disability, performing tasks that would normally be expected of an adult.

Young carers may experience the following: great feelings of responsibility, physical tiredness, due to lifting or helping their relative or doing lots of housework, worries about their parent’s health and future wellbeing, not having time for schoolwork or relaxation, feelings of embarrassment or shame at having a relative with problems.
