The Great Thomas Aveling Bake Off 2017
The first round; the Technical Challenge took place last week.
The challenge this year was to produce 12 identical sausage rolls using flaky pastry and it was lovely to see students from various year groups working with staff to produce their products from scratch.
In addition to our house representatives, Deputy Head’s Ms Archer and Mr Preston attempted to prove their culinary skills by joining forces as an additional team (note we used the word ‘attempted’!)
The experience of Year 10 GCSE Food student Jenna who has teamed up with her form tutor Mrs Holdsworth won through and they were crowned Star Bakers in this year’s ‘Technical Challenge’
Thanks also goes to Mr Jackson and our special visitor Mrs Clarke who judged the results so comprehensively.
The second and final round will be the ‘Show Stopper’ and this takes place on 1st March with the theme being St. David’s Day.
We wonder which team will be triumphant overall and become Thomas Aveling Bake Off champions 2017?
