McCann advertising agency visitors inspire 6th form Business students!

The Thomas Aveling Business Department are very fortunate to have industry links to McCann advertising, who are one the of the most prestigious advertising agencies to work for globally.  Year 13 Business students undertake a unit about Creative Product Promotion, so having this link is a perfect fit as there is a requirement for students to work in small groups to create their own promotional campaign.

Steve Martin (Creative Director) and Nadia Black (Integrated Producer) from McCann visited Thomas Aveling School this week and gave a detailed insight as to what they do at McCann, their reasons for getting into the industry in the first place, projects they have worked on, what an advertising agency does along with McCann's overall philosophy for advertising. They also showcased some of their work which was very impressive!

Students will now have to complete coursework about what an advertising agency does as well write about the different campaigns that they saw. The end of the unit allows the students creativity to flow when they will have to create their very own advertising campaign.

Students found the talk informative and we believe this will inspire them to produce some excellent work. There will also be the opportunity to apply for a 2-week work placement in the summer holidays with McCann in London, a unique opportunity for our students to find out more about working in the advertising industry.
