Examination Results
"2011 students examination results saw the school and its students continue to make great progress and achievement with yet another successful year at Key Sages 3, 4 and 5
At Key Stage four there were lots of reasons to celebrate success, with 83% of our students achieved 5 or more A*-C grades and 45% achieved five or more A*-C grades including English and Maths. This will empower many of them to follow their ambitions and go onto further education. 98% of students achieved five A*-G passes, showing that the school not only delivers an excellent education for the most able, but continues to empower all students to leave school well qualified for the future. Progress was very pleasing with 60% of students making 3 levels of progress in Maths and 66% making 3 levels of progress in English. Our Value Added measure, that compares students’ starting points on entry to their final qualifications, continues to be very positive. The Average GCSE Points Score per student rose yet again to an impressive 476 points per student at the end of KS4.
At Key Stage 3 the school had a fantastic year in 2011, with 77% of students achieving level 5 or greater in English, 61% in Maths and 78% of the year group achieving level 5 or higher in Science by the end of year 8. There is even more reason for them to be proud, as our students made these achievements in just 2 years, compared with the nationally more common 3 year Key Stage 3. Our policy of shortening KS3 to allow students more time to concentrate on the depth and breadth of their KS4 study is continuing to speed up students rate of progress, leading to greater achievement and ambition."
