Training School Status

We were delighted to be recognised as a high performing school in 2005 as this enabled us to apply for and gain Training School status.

The school works with a variety of partners, including Kent and Medway Training, a provider of School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT), the University of Greenwich and local schools in Medway including its own Rochester/Waldersalde consortium.

The school supports staff on a range of sustained courses including Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), Graduate Training Programme (GTP), Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE), Leading from The Middle (LfTM), National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and Masters Degree Programmes.

Many of our staff are trainers and deliver training in our own school as well as to other teachers both locally and nationally.

We established a coaching team 3 years ago which supports teachers across the school in a variety of ways - through observation, support with planning and delivering training.

Training School status enables the school to extend excellent local links with the Local Authority and local schools and also increase its training provision to respond to the needs of the community and extended schools.

If you are interested in training to be a teacher or would like to know more about our training programme please contact us at office@thomasaveling.co.uk or www.kmtraining.org.uk.
