Citizenship

Citizenship aims to empower individuals to become active members of their community whether that is where they study, live or eventually work. It is a fundamental element of the Thomas Aveling School it runs through the taught curriculum and the activities students are encouraged to involve themselves in.

Students receive discreet Citizenship lesson within PSHE where they learn about what it means to live and have an active role in their local, national and global communities. They also receive elements of Citizenship through their curriculum subjects, through a range of activities on offer during the school day and in after school clubs and through the extended schools programme which also runs during the holidays.

Below are examples and some brief details of just a few of the extra curricular activities on offer.
