School Open Days and Presentation Evenings

Dear Friends

Re: An invitation for you to visit The Thomas Aveling School

As Headteacher of The Thomas Aveling School, I am extremely proud to lead a successful and thriving school community where every child is valued and encouraged to achieve their best.

In guiding our students through from the start of Year 7 until the completion of their studies in either Year 11 or the Sixth Form, my staff and I are privileged on a daily basis to be able to track progress, celebrate whole school and individual achievement and prepare our students for the world of work or higher education, as well as dealing with many other aspects of everyday school life. We are well aware that for local residents, you may not know of all the positive actions and achievements our students make on a daily basis, but do perhaps encounter some of the difficulties of living near a large secondary school such as busy roads or increased litter and noise. I do hope you find when you contact the school that we deal with any concerns well.

We believe that the quality of education provided at Thomas Aveling is second to none and would like to share with you the good work going on within the school. We are therefore opening our doors to parents and carers of existing students, to our neighbours within the community, and to our local Councillors to give you a real insight into life within this vibrant, forward thinking school at the very heart of your community. To this end, we would like to invite you to attend one of our Open Mornings on either Wednesday 4th May 2011 or Thursday 5th May 2011 when two sessions will be arranged on each day, giving you the opportunity to meet with the Headteacher or senior staff, teaching staff and students, to tour the school and see lessons in progress and to enjoy an informal time during which our students will showcase their school. These sessions are not intended to replace our normal annual open sessions for parents of Year 6 prospective students, details of which will be published separately.

If you would like to join us and in order to assist us logistically with seating arrangements and prefects to show you around, we would be most grateful if you would complete the form below.

We look forward to seeing you and can assure you of a warm welcome.

Yours sincerely

Paul Jackson
Headteacher
